Wheel refurbishment done properly

Wheels take a beating – kerbs, potholes, brake dust, road salt and car washes all leave their mark. Once the finish is broken, corrosion creeps underneath and the lacquer starts to bubble and peel. A proper alloy wheel refurbishment deals with the cause, not just the look: the old coating comes off, the metal is repaired and prepared, and a fresh powder coated finish goes on.

If you've been searching for alloy wheel refurbishment near me in Stratford-upon-Avon or anywhere in Warwickshire, our studio at Langley Farm, CV37 0RN, is an easy drop-off.

What we can fix

  • Kerb damage – scuffs, gouges and "kerb rash" on the rim edge
  • Corrosion and peeling lacquer – white fur, bubbling and flaking finish
  • Chips and stone damage on spokes and faces
  • Faded or dated colours – a complete colour change is no problem
  • Cracked or buckled wheels – assessed case by case (see below)

Cracked & buckled wheel repair, minor welding

We carry out minor alloy wheel repairs and welding where it is safe to do so. Every damaged wheel is assessed case by case, with safety first: some cracks and bends can be repaired, while others mean the wheel should be replaced. We'll always tell you honestly which side of that line your wheel falls on before any work starts – a wheel is a safety-critical part, and we won't put one back on your car if we're not happy with it.

Our alloy wheel refurbishment process

  • Inspection – damage assessed and colour and finish agreed
  • Tyre removal – where needed, tyres come off so the whole wheel can be treated
  • Stripping & sandblasting – old coating and corrosion removed back to bare metal
  • Repairs – kerb damage and minor defects repaired; welding where assessed as safe
  • 3-stage powder coating – an even, durable finish cured in an oven
  • Refit & balance – tyres refitted, new valves and wheels balanced. See tyre fitting & balancing

Alloy wheel powder coating prices

Prices are for a set of four wheels and are starting prices. Every set is inspected before we start and the final price is agreed with you before any work begins.

Wheel sizeSet of 4 wheels
15" – 17"from £200
18" – 21"from £250
Over 21"priced individually
Alloy wheel welding (per repair)from £35

Every wheel powder coating price includes:

  • Tyres removed and refitted
  • Wheel preparation – old coating and corrosion removed
  • 3-stage powder coating, cured in an oven
  • Wheel balancing and new valves fitted

What affects the final price? Mainly the condition of the wheels and how much preparation they need: the level of corrosion, pitting and missing metal, kerb damage, deep scratches and scuffs, cracks, previous repairs and the quality of the old coating. Wheels over 21" are priced on size, wheel type and condition.

Welding from £35. The price depends on the size, position and number of cracks, any missing metal, how badly the wheel is damaged, the material needed and any finishing after welding. Every repair is assessed individually before we give you a final price.

Powder coated alloy wheels in your colour

Powder coating gives alloy wheels a tough, even finish that stands up well to brake dust, grit and cleaning chemicals. Keep them close to factory silver, go for a stealthy satin black, or pick something bolder – colours are available in gloss, satin, matt and metallic finishes.

Keep them looking fresh

Once your wheels are refurbished, gentle cleaning with a pH-neutral wheel cleaner will keep them looking their best. Ask us about adding protection – for example a ceramic coating can make brake dust easier to wash off; we'll advise whether it suits your finish.

Wheel refurbishment FAQ

Common
questions

How much does alloy wheel refurbishment cost?

Powder coating a set of four wheels starts from £200 for 15"–17" wheels and from £250 for 18"–21" wheels; wheels over 21" are priced individually. The price includes tyre removal and refitting, preparation, 3-stage powder coating cured in an oven, balancing and new valves. The final price depends on the condition of the wheels and is agreed before any work starts.

Can you repair cracked or buckled alloy wheels?

We carry out minor repairs and welding where it's safe, with welding from £35 per repair depending on the size, position and number of cracks. Every cracked or buckled wheel is assessed case by case, and if we don't think it can be repaired safely we'll tell you and recommend replacing it.

Why powder coat alloy wheels instead of spraying them?

Powder coating is cured with heat into a hard, even layer that generally resists chips, brake dust and cleaning chemicals better than a typical sprayed finish, so it keeps looking good for longer.

Can I change the colour of my wheels?

Yes. Because the old finish is stripped back to bare metal, you can choose a completely new colour in gloss, satin, matt or metallic. Ask us for the colour you have in mind.

Do you refit the tyres and balance the wheels?

Yes – removing and refitting the tyres, balancing the wheels and fitting new valves are all included in our wheel powder coating price.

Where can I drop my wheels off?

At our studio at Unit 3A, Langley Farm Industrial Estate, Birmingham Rd, Bishopton, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 0RN. We welcome wheels from across Warwickshire, including Warwick, Leamington Spa, Alcester and Redditch.
